This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious and passionate individual. Your role will be to provide technical leadership to development teams to deliver quality product software in a timely fashion. The role encompasses providing support and assistance to the development group throughout the application development lifecycle to enhance team capability, ultimately improving efficiency and quality.

  • Providing Technical Leadership in the delivery of multiple development projects simultaneous from design through to release from a development standpoint
  • Work with Development team to enhance Skills and Knowledge ultimately improving the Quality and Standards of the Software Development Team delivery model
  • Work with Developers, Team Leaders, Product Managers and Business Analysts to produce technical solutions and impact assessment which will input to development planning and delivery
  • Responsibility for ensuring technical risks and issues are identified and managed closely driving all stakeholders to deliver on time and to the required quality standards
  • Participate in reviews and meetings providing the value added technical support
  • Contribute to the definition of departmental and systems strategies and progression of any allocated objectives (e.g. Implementation of Agile Methodology)
  • Ensure developers are adhering to the software quality standards agreed by the team and the wider development team so that work is done to the highest possible quality
  • Actively look for opportunities to improve processes and communicate these to the development teams to help them improve their skills and drive up performance levels
  • Role model technical leadership behaviours, principles and practices in all interactions creating a positive culture in this respect and setting expectation for others
  • Collaborate with Team Leaders to drive and develop a culture of self-learning and continuous personal development culture
  • Work with Team Leaders in the engagement and promotion of talent management within the Development teams, involvement in recruitment and on boarding processes, providing technical feedback in the performance management process.
  • Contribute to post implementation reviews helping to demonstrate success of projects

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience in providing technical leadership of system/software development projects in a structured environment
  • Working experience of multi-tier application development and expertise developing applications for both client and server side
  • Strong Relational DB experience. Good at SQL development
  • Good understanding of Object Oriented & component based software development and experience
  • Quick Learner and ability to jump into an existing code base and understand the code quickly and make enhancements/changes as business demands change
  • Experience of using Visual Studio, and Team Foundation Server
  • Experience in a variety of software development approaches and methodologies including Agile and Waterfall
  • Coding Best Practices - teach and mentor other developer
  • Experience of mentoring/coaching colleagues
  • Able to influence and drive projects to meet key milestones and overcome technical challenges.
  • Excellent personal organisation and ability to prioritise and carry out multiple tasks.
  • Experience of problem identification and the exercising of sound judgement in their resolution.
  • Ability to understand, implement and continually improve processes.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with internal departments to co-ordinate and review activities and priorities, resolve problems and generally ensure that all project objectives are successfully accomplished
